ad9ba23995 Comment out DaemonSet update type fields and remove the code that depends on it. 
Leaving the type fields as comments for reference and reminder. But
deleting the conversion, defaulting and validation code. They can
always be brough back from the previous PR once the types are
introduced. Because builds break without them anyway that serves as a
reminder, so there is no need to leave them commented out.

40c97ddd5f Remove validation of *VolumeSource.FSType. 
Most volume plugins use SafeFormatAndMount, which uses ext4 by default.

FlexVolume plugin has FSType attribute 'omitempty', so reflect it in the
description of the type.

6133cb1f21 Move extensions.LabelSelector to unversioned. 
Move type LabelSelector and type LabelSelectorRequirement from pkg/apis/extensions
This avoids an import loop when Job (and later DaemonSet, Deployment, ReplicaSet)
are moved out of extensions to new api groups.

Also Move LabelSelectorAsSelector utility from pkg/apis/extensions/ to pkg/api/unversioned/
Also its test.
Also LabelSelectorOp* constants.
Also the pkg/apis/extensions/validation functions ValidateLabelSelectorRequirement and
ValidateLabelSelector move to pkg/api/unversioned

The related type in pkg/apis/extensions/v1beta1/ is staying there.  I might move
it in another PR if neccessary.

896c670fb9 conversion: add default conversion for {string,bool} ptr to {string,bool} 
This is useful because it allows defaulting to infer wheter a
string,bool value was provided by the user while still having the field
represented as a non pointer type in the internal representation.

38c7eded99 Prepare for content-type negotiation 
Combine the fields that will be used for content transformation
(content-type, codec, and group version) into a single struct in client,
and then pass that struct into the rest client and request. Set the
content-type when sending requests to the server, and accept the content
type as primary.

Will form the foundation for content-negotiation via the client.

c1d932e44a Switch API objects to not register per version codecs 
Remove Codec from versionInterfaces in meta (RESTMapper is now agnostic
to codec and serialization). Register api/latest.Codecs as the codec
factory and use latest.Codecs.LegacyCodec(version) as an equvialent to
the previous codec.

90d68a53b3 Rename Positive qualifier to Nonnegative 
It makes more sense for `ValidatePositiveField` and
`ValidatePositiveQuantity` methods to be named `ValidateNonnegativeField`
and `ValidateNonnegativeQuantity` as that is what is truly being
checked. This commit simply updates the method names everywhere they are
used.

Completed conversion functions of few other kinds:

Enforce minimum resource granularity of milli-{core, bytes} for Storage,
Memory, and CPU resource types. For Storage and Memory, milli-bytes are
allowed for backwards compatability, but the behavior is
undefinied (depends on docker implementation).

3c1451af91 Use public conversion methods to avoid reflection 
Replace many of the remaining s.Convert() invocations with direct
execution, and make generated methods public. Removes 10% of the
allocations during decode of a pod and ~20-40% of the total CPU time.

d9f3607292 Implement multi-scheduler: 
1. Name default scheduler with name `kube-scheduler`
2. The default scheduler only schedules the pods meeting the following condition:
	- the pod has no annotation "scheduler.alpha.kubernetes.io/name: <scheduler-name>"
	- the pod has annotation "scheduler.alpha.kubernetes.io/name: kube-scheduler"

0fecf965b4 Change how one-of blocks are validated 
I took a hard look at error output and played until I was happier.  This now
prints JSON for structs in the error, rather than go's format.

Also made the error message easier to read.

Fixed tests.

1e21054134 Hide common codec methods under helpers 
The pending codec -> conversion split changes the signature of
Encode and Decode to be more complicated. Create a stub helper
with the exact semantics of today and do the simple mechanical
refactor here to reduce the cost of that change.

6e46fa1fd4 Add support for open-iscsi transports. 
This enables use of software or hardware transports viz. be2iscsi,
bnx2i, cxgb3i, cxgb4i, qla4xx, iser and ocs. The default transport
(tcp) happens to be called "default".

Use of non-default transports changes the disk path to the following format:
/dev/disk/by-path/pci-<pci_id>-ip-<portal>-iscsi-<iqn>-lun-<lun_id>

cf82d6b004 resource: optimize scale function 
The original scale function takes around 800ns/op with more
than 10 allocations. It significantly slow down scheduler
and other components that heavily relys on resource pkg.
For more information see #18126.

This pull request tries to optimize scale function. It takes
two approach:

1. when the value is small, only use normal math ops.
2. when the value is large, use math.Big with buffer pool.

The final result is:

BenchmarkScaledValueSmall-4	20000000	        66.9 ns/op	       0 B/op	       0 allocs/op
BenchmarkScaledValueLarge-4	 2000000	       711 ns/op	      48 B/op	       1 allocs/op

I also run the scheduler benchmark again. It doubles the throughput of
scheduler for 1000 nodes case.

e6df0b1a24 Convert validation to use FieldPath 
Before this change we have a mish-mash of ways to pass field names around for
error generation.  Sometimes string fieldnames, sometimes .Prefix(), sometimes
neither, often wrong names or not indexed when it should be.

Instead of that mess, this is part one of a couple of commits that will make it
more strongly typed and hopefully encourage correct behavior.  At least you
will have to think about field names, which is better than nothing.

It turned out to be really hard to do this incrementally.

1d592e4c28 Unversioned types should not use ambiguous go-int 
All external types that are not int64 are now marked as int32,
including
IntOrString. Prober is now int32 (43 years should be enough of an initial
probe time for anyone).

1e88a682da Add liveness/readiness probe parameters 
- PeriodSeconds - How often to probe
- SuccessThreshold - Number of successful probes to go from failure to success state
- FailureThreshold - Number of failing probes to go from success to failure state

This commit includes to changes in behavior:

1. InitialDelaySeconds now defaults to 10 seconds, rather than the
kubelet sync interval (although that also defaults to 10 seconds).
2. Prober only retries on probe error, not failure. To compensate, the
default FailureThreshold is set to the maxRetries, 3.

b2c2d617cf Label nodes with Zone information, if available 
This lays the groundwork for simple multizone capabilities.

In a cloud environment, nodes are typically created by the kubelet
registering with the API server.  When creating a new node, we now query
the cloudprovider to see if it can provide Zone information, and if so
we add some well-known labels to the Node we are creating.

3da15535b6 Provide backpressure to clients when etcd goes down 
When etcd is down today we don't specifically handle the error involved,
which means clients get a generic 500 error. This commit adds a formal
error type internally for both WatchExpired and EtcdUnreachable, and
then converts them to api/errors before returning to the client. It also
upgrades the client to retry on any 429 or 5xx error that has a
Retry-After header, instead of just 429.

In combination, this allows the apiserver to exert backpressure on
controllers that are hotlooping.  Picked 2 seconds by default, but we
could potentially ramp that up even further in a future iteration.

e5c82d2292 Add custom pod conversion functions from pre-v1.1 mirror pods 
The functions would default values added after v1.0, so that kubelet wouldn't
fail at comparing the mirror pods against their associated static pods.

This code would need to be maintained if we ever change the default value in
Pod until we drop support for v1.0 nodes.

d4cdabf2fc Connect should be passed a Responder interface 
For connect handlers that need to respond with a structured error or
structured object, pass an interface that hides the details of writing
an object to the response (error or runtime.Object).

Example use case:

Connect handler that accepts a body input stream, which it streams to a
pod, and then returns a structured object with info about the pod it
just created.

fa39c2b032 Add flocker volume plugin 
Flocker [1] is an open-source container data volume manager for
Dockerized applications.

This PR adds a volume plugin for Flocker.
The plugin interfaces the Flocker Control Service REST API [2] to
attachment attach the volume to the pod.

Each kubelet host should run Flocker agents (Container Agent and Dataset
Agent).

The kubelet will also require environment variables that contain the
host and port of the Flocker Control Service. (see Flocker architecture
[3] for more).

- `FLOCKER_CONTROL_SERVICE_HOST`
- `FLOCKER_CONTROL_SERVICE_PORT`

The contribution introduces a new 'flocker' volume type to the API with
fields:

- `datasetName`: which indicates the name of the dataset in Flocker
  added to metadata;
- `size`: a human-readable number that indicates the maximum size of the
  requested dataset.

ed021fed4c Port forwarding fixes 
Correct port-forward data copying logic so that the server closes its
half of the data stream when socat exits, and the client closes its half
of the data stream when it finishes writing.

Modify the client to wait for both copies (client->server,
server->client) to finish before it unblocks.

Fix race condition in the Kubelet's handling of incoming port forward
streams. Have the client generate a connectionID header to be used to
associate the error and data streams for a single connection, instead of
assuming that streams n and n+1 go together. Attempt to generate a
pseudo connectionID in the server in the event the connectionID header
isn't present (older clients); this is a best-effort approach that only
really works with 1 connection at a time, whereas multiple concurrent
connections will only work reliably with a newer client that is
generating connectionID.

fd91d3f0ec Make patch-up conversions simpler 
Rather than an "all or nothing" approach to defining a custom conversion
function (which seems destined to cause problems eventually), this is an
attempt to make it possible to call the auto-generated code and then "fix it
up".

Specifically, consider you have a fooBar struct.  If you don't define a
conversion for FooBar, you will get a generated function like:
    convert_v1_FooBar_To_api_FooBar()

Before this PR, if you define your own conversion function, you get no
generated function.  After this PR you get:
    autoconvert_v1_FooBar_To_api_FooBar()
...which you can call yourself in your custom function.

f21d9ac9e4 Support pods with containers using host ipc 
Add a HostIPC field to the Pod Spec to create containers sharing
the same ipc of the host.

This feature must be explicitly enabled in apiserver using the
option host-ipc-sources.

bf2decce81 Add NotReadyAddresses to Endpoints 
In many cases clients may wish to view not ready addresses for endpoints
in order to do set membership prior to a pod being ready. For instance,
a pod that uses the service endpoints to connect to other pods under
the same service, but does not want to signal ready before it has
contacted at least a minimal number of other pods.

This is backwards compatible with old servers and clients. There is
an additional cost in size of endpoints before services ramp up, which
will add minor CPU and memory use for services that have a significant
number of pods which have not become ready.

78ce5da988 Move util.StringSet into its own package 
A lot of packages use StringSet, but they don't use anything else from

89f1f3b1b8 Alter graceful deletion to not use TTL 
Avoid TTL by deleting pods immediately when they aren't
scheduled, and letting the Kubelet delete them otherwise.

Ensure the Kubelet uses pod.Spec.TerminationGracePeriodSeconds
when no pod.DeletionGracePeriodSeconds is available.

01f3785426 Add status.podIP as a valid downward API target 
Getting the public IP a container is supposed to use is O(hard),
and usually involves ugly gyrations in python or with interfaces.
Using the downward API means that the IP Kube is announcing to
other endpoints is also visible inside the container for pods to
identify themselves.

bc8bc37282 Properly handle nil interfaces in DeepCopy. 
Running reflect.ValueOf(X) where X is a nil interface will return
a zero Value. We cannot get the type (because no concrete type is
known) and cannot check if the Value is nil later on due to the way
reflect.Value works. So we should handle this case by immediately
returning nil. We cannot type-assert a nil interface to another
interface type (as no concrete type is assigned), so we must add
another check to see if the returned interface is nil.

55daf3b80e Don't wrongly identify endpoint addresses only due to equal IP 
Before this patch the endpoint IP was used to identify endpoint addresses. This
leads to wrong unification of endpoints of different pods having the same IP (e.g.
non container IP in case of Mesos). This patch takes the EndpointAddress.targetRef.UID
into consideration as well.

72ee028cab Gracefully delete pods from the Kubelet 
This commit wires together the graceful delete option for pods
on the Kubelet.  When a pod is deleted on the API server, a
grace period is calculated that is based on the
Pod.Spec.TerminationGracePeriodInSeconds, the user's provided grace
period, or a default.  The grace period can only shrink once set.
The value provided by the user (or the default) is set onto metadata
as DeletionGracePeriod.

When the Kubelet sees a pod with DeletionTimestamp set, it uses the
value of ObjectMeta.GracePeriodSeconds as the grace period
sent to Docker.  When updating status, if the pod has DeletionTimestamp
set and all containers are terminated, the Kubelet will update the
status one last time and then invoke Delete(pod, grace: 0) to
clean up the pod immediately.

There were a couple of references here just as a reminder to change the
behavior of findPort. As of v1beta3, TargetPort was always defaulted, so
we could remove findDefaultPort and related tests.

pkg/apiserver:

The tests were using versioned API codecs for some of their encoding
tests. Necessary API types had to be written and registered with the
fake versioned codecs.

pkg/kubectl:

Some tests were converted to current versions where it made sense.

Added the api/v1/v1.json file to the hack/update-swagger-spec.sh script so it gets updated and built.

Fixes #5057

Reverting last change: Deleted line for building v1 api from the  build file update-swagger-ui.sh and deleted the output file from build (v1.json).

3aa39d54b6 Service port names are required for multi-port 
There is no provision for the first port to be unnamed.  I think I
initially allowed that, but then the Subset struct became a sorted
struct, so the first-ness of the port got lost.  If you have a Service
with one named and one unnamed port, what happens is that the
EndpointController fails to create Endpoints (validation error).

4787c66214 Register the API versions to the DefaultRESTMapper in the order of preferred versions first. 
This makes kubectl sends requests to URLs in the format defined by the latest API version.

12ba4e2452 Do not automatically decode runtime.RawExtension 
Make clients opt in to decoding objects that are stored
in the generic api.List object by invoking runtime.DecodeList()
with a set of schemes. Makes it easier to handle unknown
schema objects because decoding is in the control of the code.

Add runtime.Unstructured, which is a simple in memory
representation of an external object.

df2cbd4877 Prioritize deleting the non-running pods when reducing replicas 
This changes instructs the replication controller to delete replicas in the
order of "unscheduled (pending)", "scheduled (pending)", and "scheduled
(running)" pods. This is less disruptive than deleting random pods.

545a5a865f List output with differing types should be more resilient 
kubectl get can output a series of objects as a List in versioned
form, but not all API objects are available in the same schema.
Make the act of converting a []runtime.Object to api.List more
robust and add a test to verify its behavior in Get.

Makes it easier for client code to output unified objects.

efc7f86baf Add GetterWithOptions and allow stream flushing 
In addition to Getter interface, API Installer now supports a
GetterWithOptions interface that takes an additional options object when
getting a resource. A flag is now returned from rest.ResourceStreamer
that indicates whether the streamed response should be
flushed when written back to the client. This is to support log
streaming.

8ae203825b Implement multi-port endpoints 
Instead of endpoints being a flat list, it is now a list of "subsets"
where each is a struct of {Addresses, Ports}.  To generate the list of
endpoints you need to take union of the Cartesian products of the
subsets.  This is compact in the vast majority of cases, yet still
represents named ports and corner cases (e.g. each pod has a different
port number).

This also stores subsets in a deterministic order (sorted by hash) to
avoid spurious updates and comparison problems.

This is a fully compatible change - old objects and clients will
keepworking as long as they don't need the new functionality.

This is the prep for multi-port Services, which will add API to produce
endpoints in this new structure.

2a0793c155 Add HostNetworking container option to API.

428d2263e5 Graceful deletion of resources 
This commit adds support to core resources to enable deferred deletion
of resources.  Clients may optionally specify a time period after which
resources must be deleted via an object sent with their DELETE. That
object may define an optional grace period in seconds, or allow the
default "preferred" value for a resource to be used. Once the object
is marked as pending deletion, the deletionTimestamp field will be set
and an etcd TTL will be in place.

Clients should assume resources that have deletionTimestamp set will
be deleted at some point in the future.  Other changes will come later
to enable graceful deletion on a per resource basis.

bddef32193 Prepare EtcdHelper to extract more data from Node 
In order to support graceful deletion, the resource object will
need access to the TTL value in etcd.  Also, in the future we
may want to get the creation index (distinct from modifiedindex)
and expose it to clients.  Change EtcdResourceVersioner to be
more type specific (objects vs lists) and provide a default
implementation that relies on the internal API convention.

Also, rename etcd_tools.go to etcd_helper.go and split a few
things up.

If people like this, we could start to apply this pattern elsewhere.

TL;DR: don't redefine objects over and over changing one thing each
time.  Instead provide a func that mutates a base object to test facets
of validation.  Much easier to read and to update.

5aadd6ecae Change the v1b3 default for service ContainerPort 
In v1b1 and v1b2 we choose the "first defined port" if you do not specify a
ContainerPort.  I am proposing that v1b3 just assume the ContainerPort is the
same as the service port unless explicitly provided.  This leaves named ports
for now, but that is under discussion on its own.

This is strictly compatible, though to implement this we have to leave the
internal objects with the looser behavior until v1b[12] die.  This also adds a
link dependency so that when we DO kill v1b[12] the endpoints controller will
blow up, prompting a fix.

a450da4fd0 cloudprovider: add instance id to NodeSpec 
Sometimes for external applications it is important to identify the
cloud instance of the nodes. Until this patch there was no contract
that the node name returned by List was also the unique identifier of
the cloud instance. This new API ensures that an external application
can reliably retrieve the relevant instance id of the nodes.

Expose basic filters on an error list to ignore certain error types.
This can be used by client code to ignore errors on common schema
types like "metadata.name" or the NotFound error type.

Fixes issue #3532. Added timeouts for HTTP and TCP checks
and enabled kubelet/probe to kubelet#maxRetries times
before declaring Failure.

Added Probe.TimeoutSecs to API

Probe variants now check container.LivenessProbe.TimeoutSeconds
Also added a test for timeouts in http_test.go.

283919e8b1 Fix tests in validation_test 
Some tests expect the error cases to fail for a specific reason, but they could
fail for other reasons and still pass. This caused some changes to break the
tests without noticing the breakage. Example are the recent defaulting PR

This change fixes such tests and also updates some obsolete tests.

As far as I know, nobody uses it.  It was replaced by PublicIPs.  If I were
being very polite I would leave it in internal, but since I am 99.99% sure

4a72addaeb Factor out API defaulting from validation logic 
Currently, the validation logic validates fields in an object and supply default
values wherever applies. This change factors out defaulting to a set of
defaulting callback functions for decoding (see #1502 for more discussion).

 * This change is based on pull request 2587.

 * Most defaulting has been migrated to defaults.go where the defaulting
   functions are added.

 * validation_test.go and converter_test.go have been adapted to not testing the
   default values.

 * Fixed all tests with that create invalid objects with the absence of
   defaulting logic.

1588970ec4 Turn 409 into 500 Try Again Later when using generateName 
If a client says they want the name to be generated, a 409 is
not appropriate (since they didn't specify a name). Instead, we
should return the next most appropriate error, which is a 5xx
error indicating the request failed but the client *should* try
again.  Since there is no 5xx error that exactly fits this purpose,
use 500 with StatusReasonTryAgainLater set.

This commit does not implement client retry on TryAgainLater, but
clients should retry up to a certain number of times.

a7c9a12286 Add name generation and normalize common create flows 
Adds `ObjectMeta.GenerateName`, an optional string field that defines
name generation behavior if a Name is not provided.

Adds `pkg/api/rest`, which defines the default Kubernetes API pattern
for creation (and will cover update as well). Will allow registries
and REST objects to be merged by moving logic on api out of those places.

Add `pkg/api/rest/resttest`, which will be the test suite that verifies
a RESTStorage object follows the Kubernetes API conventions and begin
reducing our duplicated tests.

b30173658f Slightly relax annotation validation 
The more aggressive validation on annotations broke openshift (and
backwards compat for our data).  This change relaxes to allow mixed
case so we can continue working in the short term, try to see if we
can agree on relaxation, and if we can't, apply the stronger
validation here.

4cb730dad5 Refactor API object fuzzer 
API object fuzzer is used to randomly populate API object for testing. Similar
code of the fuzzer was duplicated in multiple files. This change refactors the
tests and moves the fuzzer to a separate file.

Adding objects that have TypeMeta (use runtime.Scheme) but do not
expose ObjectMeta/ListMeta (because they are not Kube API objects)
and wanted to get the simpler access path for in memory objects.

7fd887df61 Enable v1beta3 API via --runtime_config=api/v1beta3 flag 
This exposes the proper v1beta3 API endpoint when the user specifies
the --runtime_config=api/v1beta3 argument to the apiserver. v1beta3
is still considered experimental and subject to change.

--runtime_config is a map of string keys and values, that can be
specified by providing

    --runtime_config=a=b,b=c,d,e

Only the key must be specified, the value can be omitted.

Enables v1beta3 in hack/local-up-cluster.sh and hack/test-cmd.sh
