Some CNIs such as OVN don't use kubeproxy and provide
there own implementation for network proxy .
This patch allow to disable the kubeproxy start in the
local-up-cluster.sh script.
It is also move the generation of the certificate and
kubeconfig to start_kubeproxy function so it will be
generated only when it needed.
This is useful for us for developement and CI testing.

"Decorate" the variables with a no-op function to prevent shellcheck
from complaining that they are not being used. This method provides
visibility to which variables are supposed to be used in a sourcing
script compared to just disabling the warning.
Use "command -v" instead of "which". Also remove the redirections,
since "command -v" does not return an error message if the command isn't
found. Also use "read -r" instead of "read" and quote variables
properly. Do some error handling if "pushd" or "popd" fail. Read values
properly into arrays.
However, one shellcheck error is ignored in trap mechanism. The logic
in trap_add function requires the trap command to be expanded when run.
Just storing the variable into trap doesn't work. Add a shellcheck
disable directive to ignore the error.
An alternative to ignoring could be tricking shellcheck with:

This PR is the first step to transition CSINodeInfo and CSIDriver
CRD's to in-tree APIs. It adds them to the existing API group
“storage.k8s.io” as core storage APIs.
StorageObjectInUseProtection plugin of admission controller adds
the flag `kubernetes.io/pvc-protection` or `kubernetes.io/pv-protection`
to newly created PVCs or PV. In case a user deletes a PVC or PV the PVC
or PV is not removed until the finalizer is removed from the PVC or PV
by PVC or PV Protection Controller.
We are testing this plugin on the e2e tests of "PV Protection" because
most setup scripts enable that like:
* cluster/centos/config-default.sh: Enabled
* cluster/gce/config-default.sh: Enabled
* cluster/gce/config-test.sh: Enabled
* cluster/kubemark/gce/config-default.sh: Enabled
* hack/local-up-cluster.sh: Enabled
* cluster/juju/layers/kubernetes-master/reactive/kubernetes_master.py: Disabled
As we are testing it normally, it is nice to enable the plugin by
default.
Currently the kubescheduler starts in the start_kubeproxy

Running local-up-cluster with START_MODE='kubeletonly'
requires cert and kubeconfig. Currently, all the
certs and the kubeconfig are created in the start_apiserver
so it won't be created when only kubelet is started.
This change moves the creation of the kubelet cert and
kubeconfig to start_kubelet. This is helpful if you
want to run kubelet with local-up-cluster and to connect
to an existing master node.

Move away from arrays to strings to fix several shellcheck-reported
issues. It isn't useful to expand the found files into arrays, because
only things that are checked are if the array is empty or the contents
of the first array item.
Fix also a shellcheck issue about using a literal string as regexp
match. It appears that the original reason for using a regexp was to
avoid specifying the directory in which the script is run. However, due
to the need of calling 'make generated_files', the directory is fixed
anyway, and the regexp can be left out.
Testing the change can be done with the following script which emulates
the different cases which the script can see. In the output the variable
'X' is the array and 'Z' is the string.

In 99cdc069e2, we added a check for
whether the directory the user was attempting to test existed or not.
However, adding this check prevented us from running `make test
WHAT=./path/to/pkg/...`, because we believed that `./path/to/pkg/...`
wasn't a valid path to a directory.
Fix this by stripping `/...` before checking whether the directory
exists.
We already do this in hack/verify-generated-files.sh so we should do it
in verify-generated-files-remake.sh as well.
The idea is that any local changes made because of code generation
should not persist beyond the current run of the script.

'read' will not handle backslashes properly. 'read -r' is safer to use.
The find_genfiles() will not insert backslashes, so if there are any,
they will be from directory names.
The pattern used in the file is this:

What happens is that the array is expanded to separate strings, and it
is checked if that's set (for the default value assignment). However,
the correct way is to check if the concatenated array string is set to
avoid a type mismatch:

Both verify-golint.sh and verify-shellcheck.sh have the same logic
which checks failure_file in alphabetical order.
In addition, we'd like to add another script which requires the
same logic. So this add a common function for cleanup.
The placeholder documentation introduces a couple of problems:
- it complicates the contributor-experience (forces the CI to run
N times before the contributor finds out that they need to call an .sh
script and include certain files from docs/)
- it forces CLI related pull requests for tools like kubeadm and kubectl
to require top level approval from docs/OWNERS as such PRs still need
to touch the .generated_docs file
Stop tracking the placeholder documentation by applying the
following actions:
- remove the utility set-placeholder-gen-docs()
- make verify-generated-docs.sh only generate in a temporary folder
and not match .generated_docs
- mark generate-docs.sh as an alias for update-generated-docs.sh
- remove all current placeholder files in docs folders admin, man,
user-guide, yaml
- ignore the above folders and .generated_docs in a .gitignore file

Stop special casing KUBE_TEST_ARGS and limiting the API
group/version settings to "v1" when running the tests. This was
helpful in the past when we used to test multiple values for
KUBE_TEST_API_VERSIONS - if you were specifying KUBE_TEST_ARGS to run a
single test case, you probably didn't want to have it tested for
multiple values of KUBE_TEST_API_VERSIONS.
Now, however, KUBE_TEST_API_VERSIONS comes from
KUBE_AVAILABLE_GROUP_VERSIONS by default, which is a single list instead
of multiple, so we shouldn't need to special case KUBE_TEST_ARGS any
more. This is especially necessary because certain tests that are using
testapi break if KUBE_TEST_API_VERSIONS is just "v1".

The filename can overlap when multiple resources have the same name (but
obviously are of a different type). Include the name of the type in the
file name to prevent the overlap.
Otherwise, calling make followed by bazel might fail, requiring one to
run make clean first.
Additionally, add comments explaining why we must do this.
In go 1.11, go commands will use `GOFLAGS` as default flags, see
https://golang.org/doc/go1.11#go_command.
There is no need to pass GOFLAGS to $goflags, and if we do, go commands
will fail with "duplicate flags" error, e.g.

The types referenced in credentialprovider are part of a long term api
and will not change, and kubectl doesn't need to take a dependency on this
package in order to do minimal validation here.
Looks like the previous change broke for users who have cloned their
upstream using https instead of ssh. Here we explicit strip out the
prefixes like "http://", "https://" and "git@" before look for the repo
name and the org name.

Not all users of the E2E framework want to run cloud-provider specific
tests. By splitting out the code it becomes possible to decide in
a E2E test suite which providers are supported.
This is achieved in two ways:
- the framework calls certain functions through a provider
interface instead of calling specific cloud provider functions
directly
- tests that are cloud-provider specific directly import the
new provider packages
The ingress test utilities are only needed by a few tests. Splitting
them out into a separate package makes the framework simpler for test
suites not using those tests.

This change adds comments to exported things and renames the tcp,

The current interface is kind of clunky and not super easy to use, since
you have to specify parameters to specify which versions to diff. Also
the default isn't the most useful setting.

Move the CloudControllerManagerConfiguration to an API group in `cmd/`
**What this PR does / why we need it**:
This PR is the last piece of https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/67233.
It moves the `CloudControllerManagerConfiguration` to its own `cloudcontrollermanager.config.k8s.io` config API group, but unlike the other components this API group is "private" (only available in `k8s.io/kubernetes`, which limits consumer base), as it's located entirely in `cmd/` vs a staging repo.
This decision was made for now as we're not sure what the story for the ccm loading ComponentConfig files is, and probably a "real" file-loading ccm will never exist in core, only helper libraries. Eventually the ccm will only be a library in any case, and implementors will/can use the base types the ccm library API group provides. It's probably good to note that there is no practical implication of this change as the ccm **cannot** read ComponentConfig files. Hencec the code move isn't user-facing.
With this change, we're able to remove `pkg/apis/componentconfig`, as this was the last consumer. That is hence done in this PR as well (so the move is easily visible in git, vs first one "big add" then a "big remove"). The only piece of code that was used was the flag helper structs, so I moved them to `pkg/util/flag` that I think makes sense for now.

Add ability to build with runtime coverage instrumentation
**What this PR does / why we need it**:
This PR adds the ability to instrument a subset of kubernetes binaries to report code coverage information. The specific use-case is to help determine coverage of our end-to-end Conformance tests, as well as provide data that can be used to help determine where to focus. This PR focuses on making it possible to build with instrumentation; collecting and using the generated coverage data will be done in later PRs. For more details as to the intent, see the [design doc](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FKMBFxz7vtA-6ZgUkA47F8m6yR00fwqLcXMVJqsHt0g/edit?usp=sharing) (google doc; requires kubernetes-dev membership).
Specifically, this PR adds a new `KUBE_BUILD_WITH_COVERAGE` make variable, which when set will cause `kube-apiserver`, `kube-controller-manager`, `kube-scheduler`, `kube-proxy` and `kubelet` to be built with coverage instrumentation. These coverage-instrumented binaries will flush coverage information to disk every five seconds, defaulting to a temporary directory unless the `KUBE_COVERAGE_FILE` environment variable is set at launch, in which case it will write to that file instead.
The mechanism used to achieve coverage instrumentation is to build the targeted binaries as "unit tests" with coverage enabled, and then rigging the unit tests to just execute the binary's usual entry point. This is implemented only for the bash build system.

add make targets for building server images

Update `kubectl get` sorter to deal with server-side printing

### Why?
Currently, we default to non-server-side printing when sorting items in `kubectl get`. This means that instead of taking advantage of having the server tell `kubectl` how to display information, `kubectl` falls back to using hardcoded resource types to figure out how to print its output. This does not really work with resources that `kubectl` does not know about, and it goes against our goal of snipping any dependencies that `kubectl` has on the core repo.
This patch adds a sorter capable of dealing with Table objects sent by the server when using "server-side printing".
A few things left to take care of:
- ~~[ ] When printing `all` resources, this implementation does not handle sorting every single Table object, but rather _only_ the rows in each object. As a result, output will contain sorted resources of the same _kind_, but the overall list of mixed resources will _not_ itself be sorted. Example:~~

This occurs because each Table object received from the server contains all rows for that resource _kind_. We would need a way to build an ambiguous Table object containing all rows for all objects regardless of their type to have a fully sorted mixed-object output.

`ObjectMeta` has fields with `omitempty` json tags. This means that when the fields have zero values, they should not be persisted in the object.
Before this PR, some of the metadata accessors for unstructured objects did not respect these semantics i.e they would persist a field even if it had a zero value.
This PR updates the accessors so that the field is removed from the unstructured object map if it contains a zero value.

expose GC graph via debug handler
Many times when debugging GC problems, it's important to understand the state of the GC graph at a given point in time. This pull adds the ability to dump that graph in DOT format for later consumption. It does this by exposing an additional debug handler and allowing any controller init function to produce such a handler that is included under debug.

macOS has an openssl binary, but it's actually LibreSSL, which
doesn't play well with the easyrsa script that cluster/gce/util.sh
uses to generate certs
Instead of waiting until we generate certs to discover easyrsa doesn't
work, consider openssl a prereq for gce, and include a check for the
version string starting with OpenSSL

Adding IKS functionality to kubemark
**What this PR does / why we need it**:
This PR adds bash scripts in which kubemark is able to be run on IKS clusters. This adds versatility to the testing ability of kubemark by adding another cloud provider and example of use. The scripts to clean up kubemark after use are also included. In addition to this, minor changes were added to other kubemark related files to increase cloud-provider flexibility.

Checking the exit code rather than the empty string has the advantage
that you can identify what was found (comparison consumes the string, so
it's not printed). It makes debugging much easier when something is wrong.
One of my pull-request is failing saying that I need to run update, but it keeps saying that even after I ran update. And since I can't see what's wrong, it's quite hard to debug.

Add script to verify generated files

This is probably *really* heavy handed fix to this, but it will catch issues in presubmit.
Basically, takes a copy of the repo, clears out anything that is ignored from the git tree, runs `make generated_files`, and looks for a git diff. If there is one, error. Anything that is properly gitignored won't cause a diff, but anything that is *supposed* to be checked in, but is different, this will catch.

Overhaul Makefile for generated code
Calculate all go dependencies in a single Go program, rather than a complicated series of `go list` invocations and `Makefile` logic. This simplifies the
Makefile dramatically.
Also adds tests to ensure the dependencies stay correct. This test is pretty slow, though.

**What this PR does / why we need it**: as detailed in https://github.com/kubernetes/release/issues/469 (and elsewhere), there is a desire to have `kubectl` built with CGO enabled on mac OS.
There currently isn't a great way to do this in our official cross builds, but we should allow mac users to build their own kubectl with CGO enabled if they desire, e.g. through homebrew.
This change enables that; you can now do `KUBE_CGO_OVERRIDES=kubectl make WHAT=cmd/kubectl` and get a cgo-enabled `kubectl`.
The default build outputs remain unchanged.

and easy script to build hyperkube image and load it into local docker

Remove KUBE_API_VERSIONS

KUBE_API_VERSIONS is an attempt to control the available serialization of types. It pre-dates the idea that we'll have separate schemes, so it's not a thing that makes sense anymore.
Server-side we've had a very clear message about breaks in the logs for a year "KUBE_API_VERSIONS is only for testing. Things will break.".
Client-side it became progressively more broken as we moved to generic types for CRUD more than a year ago. What is registered doesn't matter when everything is unstructured.
We should remove this piece of legacy since it doesn't behave predictable server-side or client-side.

Local up cluster enhancements

Networking in a cluster brought up by hack/local-up-cluster.sh was broken because kube-proxy fails to start: connectivity to the Internet is okay, but anything involving communication among services (for example, starting cluster DNS) fails.
Debugging this took a while because there was no indication in the output of hack/local-up-cluster.sh that something had gone wrong. There were also some harmless "no such process" errors during cleanup.
The kube-proxy startup issue was fixed in parallel by PR #60431 but that fix turned out to be incomplete, so this PR uses a different approach, suppresses the harmless error messages (caused by a race) and also makes it more obvious when processes die by checking them regularly.

KUBE_ENABLE_CLUSTER_DNS=true NET_PLUGIN=kubenet hack/local-up-cluster.sh -O
to start the cluster. Check the kube-dns pod and its logs to see how kube-dns fails to communicate with the API server.
I've left out health checking of kubelet when run under Docker because that isn't something that I have used myself yet and I wanted to send the enhancements without further delays. I can try to add that later once you agree that such a health check is useful.

Node-level Checkpointing manager: Migrate dockershim and device plugin manager checkpointing

Update docker run flags for containized kubelet in hack/local-up-cluster.sh

I'm working on https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/61741, and found `docker run` flags in `hack/local-up-cluster.sh` for kubelet container is too old.
- /var/lib/docker should be mount read-write, because kubelet needs to
update /etc/resolv.conf file in container, see #29378
- /var/lib/kubelet should be mount shared, because mountpoints under
this directory must be propagated to other containers
- `--pid=host` is needed to run `nsenter --mount=/rootfs/proc/1/ns/mnt -- /usr/bin/systemd-run --scope` correctly (don't know exact reason, but with `--pid=host`, it works)
- configure cluster dns for kubelet running in a container
- should propagate sub-mounts of / to kubelet for local volume
With this fix, we can start a local cluster with containerized kubelet.

Commit 43cb024402 replaced command line parameters with a .yaml
configuration file. But feature gates must be configured with a map in
.yaml, not with a comma-separated string as in the command line
parameters. As a result, kube-proxy failed to start and networking was
broken in the cluster.
Commit c339fc0c4f tried to fix that by moving feature gates back to
the command line, but later it was found out that the command line
parameter gets ignored when also specifying a config.
Therefore now the feature gates variable gets converted into a proper
map in the config.
This helps developers detect when something went wrong and then also
points them in the right direction by showing where the corresponding
log file is, if there is one.
For example, since commit 43cb024402 in April 2017 kube-proxy failed
to start because featureGates was not set correctly in the .yaml file,
but no-one seems to have noticed this.
Killing processes in cleanup is racing with those processes
terminating by themselves when aborting local-up-cluster.sh with
CTRL-C. That leads to unnecessary error messages:

Reimplement migrate-if-needed.sh in go
The `migrate-if-needed.sh` script was already partially implemented in go (see the attachlease and rollback sub-dirs), but was still unnecessarily difficult to understand and test. This closely reimplements the original logic but with improved code structure, error handling and testing.
Where possible, go code that was previously executed as separate binaries is now statically linked into a single 'migrate' go cobra CLI app, which is then thinly wrapped by`migrate-if-needed.sh`.
There are numerous additional improvements that need to be made, but will be submitted in future PRs. This PR is focused on achieving parity with the pre-existing functionality and introducing some much needed test coverage, in particular HA cluster upgrade test coverage.
It appears that the `attachlease` and `rollback` go binaries are no longer needed as standalones and so I have consolidated them into the new `migrate` go binary. Other than that, this change aims to be 100% backward compatible.

prune Bazel build files from imported go deps and update to gazelle 0.10.1
**What this PR does / why we need it**: updates the `hack/godep-save.sh` script to prune any imported `BUILD`, `BUILD.bazel`, or `WORKSPACE` files.
We assume anything imported through godep doesn't need Bazel, but a Bazel-enabled Go project may include `BUILD` files with missing dependencies not imported by godep. To prevent this from breaking the Bazel build, remove these. (Gazelle will then regenerate the `BUILD` files based on the go build metadata.)
Additionally, there seems to be a bug in gazelle where it follows the `vendor/k8s.io` staging symlinks only when run through `hack/run-in-gopath.sh`. Updating to gazelle 0.10.1 fixes this bug.

The file was analyzed with shellcheck, and various issues fixed. Most of
the problems were just cleanups, but also potential bugs were fixed.
Many variables were quoted with double quotes to prevent globbing. The
local_files array expansion was quoted so that any file names with
potential spaces in the filename would not be re-split. The empty
default value was removed from the list processing. POSIX standard "grep
-E" was used instead of egrep.
In code "popd 2>&1 > /dev/null" the stderr output goes to the terminal
instead of /dev/null, which is clearly the intention. Change the order
to fix this in four places. Also, while at it, change one incorrect
comparison to use "-gt" instead of ">" in the same file.

Make `test-cmd` work with OS-X tooling
OS-X thips with the BSD versions of `date` and `grep`. Those don't have
certain features the script relies on:
- BSD date does not support nanoseconds (`%N`)
- BSD grep does not support perl RegEx (`-P`)
As we use `bash` specifically in the hashbang anyway it is probably fine
to rely on the `$RANDOM` bashism here.

Use mktemp instead of static temporary file path in scripts.

Using static file names in `/tmp` is considered to be a security anti-pattern, even if the modern Linux distributions make it difficult for the attacker to use symbolic link attacks against the `/tmp` directory. We should consider changing to the pattern of safely creating a temporary directory which only the user can access and placing the temporary files there. This assumes that `mktemp` command is installed -- it should be a safe assumption since the command is already widely used in the kubernetes scripts.

etcd [3.1.12](https://github.com/coreos/etcd/releases/tag/v3.1.12) (as well as 3.2.17 and 3.3.2) was released yesterday to fix a bug critical to kubernetes:
Fix [mvcc "unsynced" watcher restore operation](https://github.com/coreos/etcd/pull/9297).
- "unsynced" watcher is watcher that needs to be in sync with events that have happened.
- That is, "unsynced" watcher is the slow watcher that was requested on old revision.
- "unsynced" watcher restore operation was not correctly populating its underlying watcher group.
- Which possibly causes [missing events from "unsynced" watchers](https://github.com/coreos/etcd/issues/9086).
This will be backported to 1.9 as well.

Most of the time spent compiling is spent optimizing and linking
binary code. Most errors occur at the syntax or semantic (type) layers.
Go's compiler is importable as a normal package, so we can do fast
syntax and type checking for the 10 platforms we build on.
This currently takes ~6 minutes of CPU time (parallelized).
This makes presubmit cross builds superfluous, since it should catch
most cross-build breaks (generally Unix and 64-bit assumptions).

collapse printing paths
This collapses our printers into:
1. `PrintSuccess` - which was special cased before and should really just be a flavor of printer
2. `PrintObject` - prints an object using all the defaults. This should go away once we have options on all our commands.
3. `PrinterForOptions` - which gives back a printer based on the options. This should really be a method on the options themselves.
And none of these methods have any factory dependencies anymore.

Switch to v2 of [coreos/go-oidc](https://github.com/coreos/go-oidc), which uses square/go-jose to verify tokens and supports more signing algorithms.

Graduate kubeletconfig API group to beta
Regarding https://github.com/kubernetes/features/issues/281, this PR moves the kubeletconfig API group to beta.
After #53088, the KubeletConfiguration type should not contain any deprecated or experimental fields, and we should not have to remove any more fields from the type before graduating it to beta.
We need the community to double check for two things, however:
1. Are there any fields currently in the KubeletConfiguration type that you were going to mark deprecated this quarter, but haven't yet?
2. Are there any fields currently in the KubeletConfiguration type that are experimental or alpha, but were not explicitly denoted as such?

Build Kubernetes binaries with valid Semantic Version

Refuse to build Kubernetes when a version string like `v1.8.3+xx+xx`.
This PR is to restrict the `KUBE_GIT_VERSION`, if the version string does match the rule of Semantic Version, then refuse to build.
Since Kubernetes Conformance test needs the `KUBE_GIT_VERSION` to be a valid Semantic Version, so I think it's better to restrict the version string.

Remove experimental keystone authenticator

experimental-keystone-url and experimental-keystone-ca-file were always
experimental. So we don't need a deprecation period.
KeystoneAuthenticator was on the server side and needed userid/password
to be passed in and used that to authenticate with Keystone. We now
have authentication and authorization web hooks that can be used. There
is a external repo with a webook for keystone which works fine along
with the kubectl auth provider that was added in:

So we don't need this older style / hard coded / experimental code
anymore.

The current code

is broken because the array is concatenated in [[ .. ]] structure. This
means that the match will be done to any substring in the resulting
string which just happens to include ${int_group}. Fix this to use a
loop instead, and do exact matching. Also make tabs consistent in the
for loop.
Use "mapfile" and "read" to split the $KUBE_AVAILABLE_GROUP_VERSIONS
string into an array using space as the delimiter. This prevents shell
from globbing and splitting the string in potentially wrong places.

Remove /ui/ redirect
The existing kube-apiserver hard-codes `/ui` to redirect to an optional add-on, which is not appropriate. It does not work in the following scenarios:
* https-enabled dashboards
* the dashboard is deployed to a different namespace or service name
* the dashboard is not installed at all
* authorization is enabled and does not allow access to /ui
This PR removes the hard-coded `/ui` redirect.

`kubectl get <resource> --watch` only supports watching a single resource kind at a time.
This check fails if more than one resource `Info` is returned.
When dealing with large quantities of a single resource kind, or an amount that exceeds the value of `--chunk-size`, more than one request is made to the server causing a resource `Info` to be created for each of the requests, ultimately causing the above check to fail even though we are dealing with the same type of resource.
This patch modifies that check to take into account the GVKs of all infos returned, and only fail if at least one differs.

This is the 2nd attempt. The previous try (#57573) was reverted while we
figured out the regional mirrors (oops).
New plan: k8s.gcr.io is a read-only facade that auto-detects your source
region (us, eu, or asia for now) and pulls from the closest. To publish
an image, push k8s-staging.gcr.io and it will be synced to the regionals
automatically (similar to today). For now the staging is an alias to
gcr.io/google_containers (the legacy URL).
When we move off of google-owned projects (working on it), then we just
do a one-time sync, and change the google-internal config, and nobody
outside should notice.
We can, in parallel, change the auto-sync into a manual sync - send a PR
to "promote" something from staging, and a bot activates it. Nice and
visible, easy to keep track of.

TL;DR:
* The new `staging-k8s.gcr.io` is where we push images. It is literally an alias to `gcr.io/google_containers` (the existing repo) and is hosted in the US.
* The contents of `staging-k8s.gcr.io` are automatically synced to `{asia,eu,us)-k8s.gcr.io`.
* The new `k8s.gcr.io` will be a read-only alias to whichever regional repo is closest to you.
* In the future, images will be promoted from `staging` to regional "prod" more explicitly and auditably.

experimental-keystone-url and experimental-keystone-ca-file were always
experimental. So we don't need a deprecation period.
KeystoneAuthenticator was on the server side and needed userid/password
to be passed in and used that to authenticate with Keystone. We now
have authentication and authorization web hooks that can be used. There
is a external repo with a webook for keystone which works fine along
with the kubectl auth provider that was added in:
a0cebcb559
So we don't need this older style / hard coded / experimental code
anymore.
