Apiregistration v1alpha1→v1beta1
Promoting apiregistration api from v1alpha1 to v1beta1.
API Registration is responsible for registering an API `Group`/`Version` with
another kubernetes like API server. The `APIService` holds information
about the other API server in `APIServiceSpec` type as well as general
`TypeMeta` and `ObjectMeta`. The `APIServiceSpec` type have the main
configuration needed to do the aggregation. Any request coming for
specified `Group`/`Version` will be directed to the service defined by
`ServiceReference` (on port 443) after validating the target using provided
`CABundle` or skipping validation if development flag `InsecureSkipTLSVerify`
is set. `Priority` is controlling the order of this API group in the overall
discovery document.
The return status is a set of conditions for this aggregation. Currently
there is only one condition named "Available", if true, it means the
api/server requests will be redirected to specified API server.

types and fields to break. Since we do not have server-side 301 redirects, user
has to click an extra link, and the #target fragment in the URL will be lost. (This is
because GitHub’s redirect_from feature is not ideal.)
For the time being, I have manually gone through all of them to bring them up to date
and add HTTPS to those missing it. This is a docs-only change and impacts generated
code, generated swaggers, API reference docs etc.

Tighten validation of mirror pod annotations
Tightens validation for pods with a mirror pod annotation:
1. spec.nodeName must be set
2. makes the mirror pod annotation immutable
3. starts validating pod-specific annotations during pod status update
None of these changes affect usage of the mirror pod annotation by kubelets, which only set it on pod creation (verified this is true back to 1.5.x)
the second commit updates the pod validation tests to look for specific error messages (best reviewed ignoring whitespace changes)

Refine ESIPP validation logic in validation.go

The previous ESIPP validation logic in validation.go has a huge overlap with [function healthCheckNodePortUpdate in service/rest.go](870585e8e1/pkg/registry/core/service/rest.go (L283-L373)), in which we reject any invalid modifications on ESIPP annotations.
This PR removes the overlap, and make validation.go only check if values are legal and whether user mixes different API versions (alpha & beta).
We are indeed removing the alpha annotation support, but it is kept in the codes for the ease of transiting the same logic onto beta/GA.

The reason for this error is that the input to admission plugins is internal api objects not versioned objects so expecting versioned object is incorrect. Due to this, no pod got desired tolerations and it always showed:

Guaranteed admission for Critical Pods
This is the first step in implementing node-level preemption for critical pods.
It defines the AdmissionFailureHandler interface, which allows callers, like the kubelet, to define how failed predicates are handled, and take steps to correct failures if necessary.
In the kubelet's implementation, it triggers preemption if the pod being admitted is critical, and if the only failed predicates are InsufficientResourceErrors, then it prempts (not yet implemented) other other pods to allow admission of the critical pod.

Use consistent helper for getting secret names from pod
Kubelet secret-manager and mirror-pod admission both need to know what secrets a pod spec references. Eventually, a node authorizer will also need to know the list of secrets.
This creates a single (well, double, because api versions) helper that can be used to traverse the secret names referenced from a pod, optionally short-circuiting (for places that are just looking to see if any secrets are referenced, like admission, or are looking for a particular secret ref, like authorization)

Refactor printers and describers into their own package.
This sets the stage for using printer code from the server side (decoupled from kubectl) and loosens the coupling between kubectl and the printers. `pkg/printers` contains interfaces and has an import restriction against pulling in API specific code, while `pkg/printers/internalversion` can be used for internal types.
Add a method on `Factory` for retrieving PrinterForCommand which uses the Scheme and RESTMapper from the Factory, not the hardcoded ones. This further separates kubectl from the core API scheme and allows better composition.
Change NamePrinter to use RESTMapper (previously it was hardcoding those conversions). This means that we now return plural resource names (`pods/foo`) but is correct once aliases and shortnames start being returned by the mapper.
This is a prerequisite for server side get, but is pure refactor (contains no new features).

At present when user creates privileged pod and creation of privileged containers disallowed globally by a system administrator (kubelet and api-server were running with `--allow-privileged=false`), user will get the following error message:

Adds kubeadm subcommands to create, list, and delete bootstrap tokens.
Tokens can be created with a TTL duration, or 0 for tokens that will not
expire. The create command can also be used to specify your own token
(for use when bootstrapping masters and nodes in parallel), or update an
existing token's secret or ttl.
Marked "ex" for experimental for now as the boostrap controllers are not
yet hooked up in core.

we search all defaultGroupVersion as opposed to just one when no mapping was found for provided versions.

Test 0-length-arrays in fuzzing tests
While hacking on #37289 I noticed that our fuzzing tests test nil slices and slices of length 1, but not slices of length 0, meaning we aren't testing that 0-length slices get treated the same as nil in all the places we expect them to (and in particular, we aren't ensuring that comparisons always use api.Semantic.DeepEqual rather than reflect.DeepEqual). (Though in fact, changing the fuzzer didn't turn up any bugs, so maybe this effectively gets tested somewhere else...)
`fuzz.New().NilChance(.5).NumElements(0, 1)` means we end up generating `nil` 50% of the time, a length 0 array 25% of the time, and a length 1 array 25% of the time... maybe it should be `fuzz.New().NilChance(.33).NumElements(0, 1)` instead?
The gofuzz rebase is to pull in https://github.com/google/gofuzz/pull/20, and the other fix is just a drive-by.

In an effort to expand the existing pool of reviewers and establish a
two-tiered review process (first someone lgtms and then someone
experienced in the project approves), we are adding new reviewers to
existing owners files.

We did this by algorithmically figuring out who’s contributed code to
the project and in what directories. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work
well: people that have made mechanical code changes (e.g change the
copyright header across all directories) end up as reviewers in lots of
places.
Instead of using pure commit data, we generated an excessively large
list of reviewers and pruned based on all time commit data, recent
commit data and review data (number of PRs commented on).
At this point we have a decent list of reviewers, but it needs one last
pass for fine tuning.

that iterates over each object in the list.

operations, and for larger LISTs significantly reduces CPU and
allocations.

This is the first stab at getting the Kubelet running on Windows (fixes#30279), and getting it to deploy network-accessible pods that consist of Windows containers. Thanks @csrwng, @jbhurat for helping out.
The main challenge with Windows containers at this point is that container networking is not supported. In other words, each container in the pod will get it's own IP address. For this reason, we had to make a couple of changes to the kubelet when it comes to setting the pod's IP in the Pod Status. Instead of using the infra-container's IP, we use the IP address of the first container.
Other approaches we investigated involved "disabling" the infra container, either conditionally on `runtime.GOOS` or having a separate windows-docker container runtime that re-implemented some of the methods (would require some refactoring to avoid maintainability nightmare).
Other changes:
- The default docker endpoint was removed. This results in the docker client using the default for the specific underlying OS.

Avoid double decoding all client responses

The linked issue uncovered that we were always double decoding the response in restclient for get, list, update, create, and patch. That's fairly expensive, most especially for list. This PR refines the behavior of the rest client to avoid double decoding, and does so while minimizing the changes to rest client consumers.
restclient must be able to deal with multiple types of servers. Alter the behavior of restclient.Result#Raw() to not process the body on error, but instead to return the generic error (which still matches the error checking cases in api/error like IsBadRequest). If the caller uses
.Error(), .Into(), or .Get(), try decoding the body as a Status.
For older servers, continue to default apiVersion "v1" when calling restclient.Result#Error(). This was only for 1.1 servers and the extensions group, which we have since fixed.
This removes a double decode of very large objects (like LIST) - we were trying to DecodeInto status, but that ends up decoding the entire result and then throwing it away. This makes the decode behavior specific to the type of action the user wants.

Optimize label selector
The number of values for a given label is generally pretty small (in huge majority of cases it is exactly one value).
Currently computing selectors is up to 50% of CPU usage in both apiserver and scheduler.
Changing the structure in which those values are stored from map to slice improves the performance of typical usecase for computing selectors.
Early results:
- scheduler throughput it ~15% higher
- apiserver cpu-usage is also lower (seems to be also ~10-15%)

Split conversion and defaulting
Separate conversion and defaulting. Defaulting occurs mixed with conversion today - change the server so that the `VersioningCodec` performs defaulting on the external type during decoding.
* Add a new method to `Scheme` - `func (*runtime.Scheme) Default(runtime.Object)` - that takes an object and performs defaulting.
* Call `Default` during decoding and at static initialization time
* Use the new `defaulter-gen` to generate top level object defaulters (`v1.Pod`) at build time for any type that needs to perform defaulting.
* Add tests and alter the existing code to adapt as necessary
* Fix a few bugs in conversions that depended on defaulting behavior

Step 1 of decoupling conversion and defaulting. The generator will assist in creating top level defaulters that in a single method invoke all nested defaulters, preventing the need to recurse via reflection or conversion. These top level defaulters will be registered in the scheme and invoked instead of the nested recursion path. This will set the stage for a future generator, capable of creating defaulters from embedded struct tags on external types. However, we must gradually switch these over.
The immediate goal here is to split defaulting and conversion so that the unsafe convertor can be used to maximum potential (we would be able to use direct memory conversion for any identical nested struct, even those that must be defaulted).
The generator uses `k8s:defaulter-gen=TypeMeta` on most public packages to flag any top level type that has defaulters to get a `SetObjectDefaults_NAME` function created (types that don't have defaulters won't have functions). This also creates a `RegisterDefaults` method that applies a default to an interface{} and returns true if the object was handled. Existing defaults are left as is.
Add a test to verify old and new path generate the same outcomes. Defaulter will move to gengo before this is merged, and subsequent PRs will remove defaulting during conversion and have the VersioningCodec apply defaults.
Most normal codec use should perform defaulting. DirectCodecs should not
perform defaulting. Update the defaulting_test to fuzz the list of known
defaulters. Use the new versioning.NewDefaultingCodec() method.

Add PSP support for seccomp profiles
Seccomp support for PSP. There are still a couple of TODOs that need to be fixed but this is passing tests.
One thing of note, since seccomp is all being stored in annotations right now it breaks some of the assumptions we've stated for the provider in terms of mutating the passed in pod. I've put big warning comments around the pieces that do that to make sure it's clear and covered the rollback in admission if the policy fails to validate.

Match GroupVersionKind against specific version
Currently when multiple GVK match a specific kind in `KindForGroupVersionKinds` only the first will be matched, which not necessarily will be the correct one. I'm proposing to extend this to pick the best match, instead.
Here's my problematic use-case, of course it involves ScheduledJobs 😉:
I have a `GroupVersions` with `batch/v1` and `batch/v2alpha1` in that order. I'm calling `KindForGroupVersionKinds` with kind `batch/v2alpha1 ScheduledJob` and that currently results this matching first `GroupVersion`, instead of picking more concrete one. There's a [clear description](ee77d4e6ca/pkg/api/unversioned/group_version.go (L183)) why it is on single `GroupVersion`, but `GroupVersions` should pick this more carefully.

I tried to keep this PR down to just a simple search-n-replace to keep
things simple. I may have gone too far in some spots but its easy to
roll those back if needed.
I avoided renaming `contrib/mesos/pkg/minion` because there's already
a `contrib/mesos/pkg/node` dir and fixing that will require a bit of work
due to a circular import chain that pops up. So I'm saving that for a
follow-on PR.
I rolled back some of this from a previous commit because it just got
to big/messy. Will follow up with additional PRs

Since #33393 is merged, the bug should have been fixed.
We had another bug where we confused the hostname with the NodeName.
To avoid this happening again, and to make the code more
self-documenting, we use types.NodeName (a typedef alias for string)
whenever we are referring to the Node.Name.
A tedious but mechanical commit therefore, to change all uses of the
node name to use types.NodeName
Also clean up some of the (many) places where the NodeName is referred
to as a hostname (not true on AWS), or an instanceID (not true on GCE),
etc.

`pods.beta.kubernetes.io/init-container-statuses` instead of introducing one more pods.beta.kubernetes.io/init-container-statuses. This breaks when the cluster is running with 1.4, but the user is still running with kubectl 1.3.x.

`kubernetes-e2e-gke-1.4-1.3-kubectl-skew` (1.3 kubectl and 1.4 master) test suite failed with:

It's because the old RC had an orphanFinalizer, so it is not deleted from the key-value store immediately. In turn, the creation of the new RC of the same name failed.
In this failure, the RC and pods are updated, it's just that the RC is of different name, i.e., original name + a hash generated based on podTemplate. The error is confusing to user, but not that bad. So this PR just prints a warning message to instruct users how to work around.
1.4 kubectl rolling-update uses different logic so it's working.

Change rbac roleref to reflect the information we want
@liggitt @ericchiang This is a version of https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/31359 which updates the `RoleRef` to be (I think) the type that we want, with a group, resource, and name.
This is **not** backwards compatible with any existing data. I'm ok with doing this since rbac was considered alpha, but its something to consider.
If we want this instead, I'll close the previous pull (or update it with this content).

Add AppArmor feature gate
Add option to disable AppArmor via a feature gate. This PR treats AppArmor as Beta, and thus depends on https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/31471 (I will remove `do-not-merge` once that merges).
Note that disabling AppArmor means that pods with AppArmor annotations will be rejected in validation. It does not mean that the components act as though AppArmor was never implemented. This is by design, because we want to make it difficult to accidentally run a Pod with an AppArmor annotation without AppArmor protection.

[GarbageCollector] Allow per-resource default garbage collection behavior
What's the bug:
When deleting an RC with `deleteOptions.OrphanDependents==nil`, garbage collector is supposed to treat it as `deleteOptions.OrphanDependents==true", and orphan the pods created by it. But the apiserver is not doing that.
What's in the pr:
Allow each resource to specify the default garbage collection behavior in the registry. For example, RC registry's default GC behavior is Orphan, and Pod registry's default GC behavior is CascadingDeletion.

code) or are created with a beta annotation under 1.4. In the later
case, they are round tripped at creation time, and so get both
annotations. So all subsequent GETs see both labels.
The serviceAccountName is occasionally useful for clients running on
Kube that need to know who they are when talking to other components.
The nodeName is useful for PetSet or DaemonSet pods that need to make
calls back to the API to fetch info about their node.
Both fields are immutable, and cannot easily be retrieved in another
way.

Make labels, fields expose selectable requirements
What?
This is to change the labels/fields Selector interface and make them expose selectable requirements. We reuse labels.Requirement struct for label selector and add fields.Requirement for field selector.
Why?
In order to index labels/fields, we need them to tell us three things: index key (a field or a label), operator (greater, less, or equal), and value (string, int, etc.). By getting selectable requirements, we are able to pass them down and use them for indexing in storage layer.

I made two commits: one with the actual change and the other with the auto-generated code. I think it's easier to review this way, but let me know if you prefer in some other way.
I haven't written any tests yet, I wanted to have a first glance and not write them till this (and the API) are more close to the "LGTM" :)
There are some things:
* I'm not sure where to do the "AND 0777". I'll try to look better in the code base, but suggestions are always welcome :)
* The write permission on group and others is not set when you do an `ls -l` on the running container. It does work with write permissions to the owner. Debugging seems to show that is something happening after this is correctly set on creation. Will look closer.
* The default permission (when the new fields are not specified) are the same that on kubernetes v1.3
* I do realize there are conflicts with master, but I think this is good enough to have a look. The conflicts is with the autog-enerated code, so the actual code is actually the same (and it takes like ~30 minutes to generate it here)
* I didn't generate the docs (`generated-docs` and `generated-swagger-docs` from `hack/update-all.sh`) because my machine runs out of mem. So that's why it isn't in this first PR, will try to investigate and see why it happens.
Other than that, this works fine here with some silly scripts I did to create a secret&configmap&downwardAPI, a pod and check the file permissions. Tested the "defaultMode" and "mode" for all. But of course, will write tests once this is looking fine :)

Simplify canonical element term in deepcopy
Replace the old functional canonical element term in deepcopy registration with direct struct instantiation.
The old way was an artifact of non-uniform pointer/non-pointer types in the signature of deepcopy function. Since we changed that to always be a pointer, we can simplify the code.
