b452440f6c virtio-devices: Implement virtio-device rtc
This change will allow us to get accurate time over ptp in guests
started from a MSHV-virtualized Linux host. Implementing it as a
virtio device is preferable to using the existing kvm_ptp because:

kvm_ptp relies on hypercalls that only exist on host kernels running
kvm. Virtio-rtc gives us more flexibility in what clock types we want
to provide. We can later extend the device to implement multiple clocks
(smeared UTC, TAI, monotonic, etc.). Virtio-rtc protocol supports
alarms. Alarms may later enable usecases where the guests can do their
own VM lifecycle management without relying on a host-side
orchestrator.

Implement device backend for virtio-rtc. Currently this implementation
encompasses:

1. CONFIG, CAP, READ, CROSSCAP (returns false)
2. One PTP clock is presented of type
VIRTIO_RTC_CLOCK_UTC_MAYBE_SMEARED with leap_second_smearing
VIRTIO_RTC_SMEAR_UNSPECIFIED

The device is disabled by default, requiring --rtc to be passed

Not implemented but theoretically supported by virtio-rtc is:

1. Cross-timestamping support
2. The alarm queue

63d6beb170 virtio-devices: vsock: Adapt used handling to match other devices
Follow the same pattern as other virtio devices using a bool to check if
it needs notification and propagating its own Error enum.

Sadly this does still use `anyhow!()` but this does match with the
behaviour of the other devices in their implementations.

As a side effect we can now remove two errors from the top-level Error
enum in virtio-devices as these were only used by this module and those
errors had mangled descriptions.

e2b9fa261b virtio-devices: get_host_address_range check fixes
`get_host_address_range` used `check_range(addr, size)` as a guard then
unwrapped `get_slice(addr, size)`. This allowed a span across two
regions to hit the unwrap (get_slice limits to one range).

If `size` were zero, then the checks were all skipped. Causing a panic
later on for an invalid address.

Make get_slice the sole authority and reject size==0 explicitly.
Callers already handle None.

563303b50a virtio-devices: net: handle corrupted requests with NEEDS_RESET
A buggy or malicious guest may write an inappropriate value into
virtqueue's next_avail field. This will result in an error
when iterating over the queue:

863837ef86/virtio-queue/src/queue.rs (L708)

but this error is (logged and) ignored if pop_descriptor_chain()
is used:

863837ef86/virtio-queue/src/queue.rs (L583)

A reasonable approach, implemented here, is to mark the device as
NEEDS_RESET and ignore further queue events until the guest
reinitializes the device.

How this patch was tested:

Linux kernel was patched to trigger a bad next_avail when the
virtqueue queue counter reaches 5000:

021f450cdb virtio-devices: proper bounds checks
Callers of get_host_address_range() rely on it returning a pointer to at
least size bytes of memory. mem.get_host_address() is an overrideable
method of a safe trait, so it is better for safe code to not rely on its
correctness for safety. Instead, use mem.get_slice(), which returns a
VolatileSlice whose invariants guarantee that it points to a sufficient
amount of memory. If mem.check_range() succeeds but mem.get_slice()
returns a slice that is too small, this means that there is either a
logic error or a situation the code cannot support yet, so panic.

a212343908 misc: arch/riscv64: streamline #[source] and Error
This streamlines the code base to follow best practices for
error handling in Rust: Each error struct implements
std::error::Error (most due via thiserror::Error derive macro)
and sets its source accordingly.

This allows future work that nicely prints the error chains,
for example.

So far, the convention is that each error prints its
sub error as part of its Display::fmt() impl.

88a9f79944 misc: Adapt consistent import style formatting
Historically the Cloud Hypervisor coding style has been to ensure that
all imports are ordered and placed in a single group. Unfortunately
cargo fmt has no support for ensuring that all imports are in a single
group so if whitespace lines were added as part of the import statements
then they would only be odered correctly in the group.

By adopting "group_imports="StdExternalCrate" we can enforce a style
where imports are placed in at most three groups for std, external
crates and the crate itself. Choosing a style enforceable by the tooling
reduces the reviewer burden.

a423bf13ad virtio: Port codebase to the latest virtio-queue version
The new virtio-queue version introduced some breaking changes which need
to be addressed so that Cloud Hypervisor can still work with this
version.

The most important change is about removing a handle to the guest memory
from the Queue, meaning the caller has to provide the guest memory
handle for multiple methods from the QueueT trait.

One interesting aspect is that QueueT has been widely extended to
provide every getter and setter we need to access and update the Queue
structure without having direct access to its internal fields.

This patch ports all the virtio and vhost-user devices to this new crate
definition. It also updates both vhost-user-block and vhost-user-net
backends based on the updated vhost-user-backend crate. It also updates
the fuzz directory.

be7c389120 virtio-devices: Add Vdpa device
vDPA is a kernel framework introduced fairly recently in order to handle
devices complying with virtio specification on their datapath, while the
control path is vendor specific. For the datapath, that means the
virtqueues are handled through DMA directly between the hardware and the
guest, while the control path goes through the vDPA framework,
eventually exposed through a vhost-vdpa device.

vDPA, like VFIO, aims at achieving baremetal performance for devices
that are passed into a VM. But unlike VFIO, it provides a simpler/better
framework for achieving migration. Because the DMA accesses between the
device and the guest are going through virtio queues, migration can be
achieved way more easily, and doesn't require each device driver to
implement the migration support. In the VFIO case, each vendor is
expected to provide an implementation of the VFIO migration framework,
which makes things harder as it must be done for each and every device.

So to summarize the point is to support migration for hardware devices
through which we can achieve baremetal performances.

To support I/O throttling on virt-net devices, we need to use the
'rate_limiter' module from the 'net_utils' crate. Given the
'virtio-devices' crate has dependency on the 'net_utils', we will need
to move the 'rate_limiter' module out of the 'virtio-devices' crate to
avoid circular dependency issue. Considering the 'rate_limiter' is not
virtio specific and could be reused for non virtio devices, we move it
to its own crate.

f685f0e0b2 vm-virtio: initialize MSI-X vectors with VIRTIO_MSI_NO_VECTOR
In case of the virtio frontend driver doesn't need interupts for
certain queue event, it may explicitly write VIRTIO_MSI_NO_VECTOR
to the virtio common configuration, or it may doesn't configure
the event type vector at all.

This patch initializes both MSI-X configuration vector and queue vector
with VIRTIO_MSI_NO_VECTOR, so that the backend drivers won't trigger
unexpected interrupts to the guest.

af8def364d virtio-devices, vmm: add I/O rate limiter on block device
This patch is based on the 'rate_limiter' module from firecracker[1]. To
simplify dependencies, we reply on 'vmm-sys-util::TimerFd' instead of
the `timerfd` crate.

9e53efa3ca virtio-devices: Add support for adding a single memory region
Assuming vhost-user devices support CONFIGURE_MEM_SLOTS protocol
feature, we introduce a new method to the VirtioDevice trait in order to
update one single memory at a time.

In case CONFIGURE_MEM_SLOTS is not supported by the backend (feature not
acked), we fallback onto the current way of updating the memory
mappings, that is with SET_MEM_TABLE.

16b82f3dfe vhost-user: Make ActivateError messages more consistent
Originally, VhostUserSetup is only used by vhost-user-fs. While
vhost-user-blk and vhost-user-net have their own error messages,
we rename VhostUserSetup to VhostUserFsSetup.

fa8fcf5f4c vhost: Move to upstream crate
The vhost crate from rust-vmm is ready, which is why we do the switch
from the Cloud Hypervisor fork to the upstream crate.

At the same time, we rename the crate from vhost_rs to vhost.

aee1155870 virtio-devices, vmm: Move to ExternalDmaMapping from vm-device
Now that ExternalDmaMapping is defined in vm-device, let's use it from
there.

This commit also defines the function get_host_address_range() to move
away from the vfio-ioctls dependency.
